House Guide

Wominjeka.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which we live, the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge our First Nations guests staying with us.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Revel & Hide, your place to explore, indulge & retreat.

Our guide to all our favourite places will be waiting for you when you arrive - please see below all the details you need for your arrival, and all about our space.

After all your revelling, we hope you find comfort in the little hideaway we have created. Lounge about and re-energize. Then do it all over again.

May you love being here as much as we have.  Stay safe, be kind and soak it all in. If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to reach out.

Arrival & departure times.

Check in is from 3pm and check-out is 11am. Please let us know if you're looking for a late checkout - we'll always do our best to accommodate.

Key collection.

Unfortunately lockboxes are no longer permitted in the City of Yarra, so our keys now live with the lovely team at @convenience Collingwood. We promise the process to collect & return is as easy as can be! The pickup point is a 2min drive from our apartment and an easy pit-stop on your way to us.

The pick up address is:
@convenience Collingwood
76 Smith St, Collingwood

We will send you a link from KeyNest in your welcome message, with details on the location, operating hours and unique code for collection. We suggest to take your preferred method of transport to the pick up location, park out the front (there is street parking), collect the keys then return to the apartment.

Carpark access.

After collecting the keys, make your way to the driveway to the right of 70 Stanley Street, Collingwood. You will need to use the black fob on the access pad to your right, to open the roller door. Take the driveway down and at the first opportunity, turn right, and you’ll see our carpark in front of you. It’s marked 302G on the ground and is the second on the right – you’ll see the RH sign on the cage above.

We are in the Gibson building, so when looking at our carpark sign, head to the elevator bank on your left (turn right just before the bins), use your fob again to take you to level three, turn left and we are apartment 302. Always check the elevator & apartment sign for ‘Gibson’. To find your car again, you are parked on -1.

You can also access the carpark from the driveway at 31 Napoleon Street, at anytime during your stay.

Arriving by taxi or on foot.

After collecting the keys, make your way to the lobby of 60 Stanley Street, Collingwood (to the left of the dentist).

Use your fob on the access pad to your right to enter, cross straight through to the second set of glass doors and use your fob again to access the courtyard.

Cross all the way over to the smaller door directly opposite you, scan again and you are in the Gibson building.

Use your fob in the elevator to take you to level three, turn left and we are apartment 302 Gibson.

You can also access this building from 31 Napoleon Street.

Gin bar.

Make yourself at home and enjoy your first Melbourne gin on us. Tonic is in the fridge, and garnish on the bar. After your first, they’re $10 a pop (cash) which we’ll donate to local organisation Streat – a social enterprise helping young people in our community find their feet, with a job in the hospitality industry. We recommend a visit to their café on Cromwell Street!

You’ll find our nifty ice maker in the laundry cupboard, in the bathroom. There will be ice ready for your arrival, and when you need a top up just fill the well under the basket with a jug of water and let it do its thing for 30mins. If you find it noisy, feel free to turn it off.

WIFI.

Network: R&H
Password: revelandhide

If needed, the modem is located on the shelf of the bedroom wardrobe.

Extra Guests.

Revel & Hide is perfect for two adult guests at a max, unfortunately we can’t accommodate your little ones or furry friends. We kindly ask that extra guests are not brought back to the apartment, in order to be considerate of our lovely neighbours.

Entertainment.

We have decided not to have a TV, in the hope that you can pop out to explore, or switch off and just be.
However, our WIFI is great so if you wish, please do bring along your own devices to stream your favourite shows.

We also have a punchy little Bluetooth speaker for you to set the mood – hold the brass button in the middle to turn it on, then press the small black button to connect via your phone. It’s name is Emberton.

Balcony.

We hope you enjoy our little outdoor oasis, you’ll find black cushions under the bed, and stripey cushions in the bedroom wardrobe – please bring these in at night and when checking out to keep them out of the elements.

We do ask that after 10pm you bring your cocktails inside, or head on out to the likes of Yah Yah’s or The Lame Duck.

Please be kind to our neighbours, we’re in pretty close quarters and sound travels across the courtyard. Everyone could hear your secrets! Likewise, if our neighbours are bothering you, please reach out so we can do our best to help.

Pool & BBQ area.

For a dip to get rid of that hangover or to watch the sun go down, pop over to Level 4 of Mason building which is across the courtyard, and in the building on the left. Follow the signs & take your fob!

Kitchen.

We're pretty sure you'll be out & about experiencing all that Melbourne has to offer. However if you're in need of a quiet night in, we have included all the essentials including olive oil, salt & pepper, mixed herbs, black & herbal tea, chai & coffee from one of our favourite roasteries. There is a gas stove-top, an oven and a small fridge, best for platters and easy meals.

Heating & cooling.

The remote to the split system is on the top shelf of the kitchen island. Set it to cool or heat, and your preferred temperature. Please turn it off while you’re out, the space cools and heats quickly when you return.

Flyscreen.

A life-saver in summer, keep the sliding door open but the bugs out! Ours is a little unique, please make sure you turn the handle to the right before you open & close.
It won’t move on its own – please don’t try.

Bedroom window.

To close – push it out a little further, then pull it back in and turn the handle to the right to lock.

Rubbish.

We have a rubbish chute down the hall towards the lift - take a right just before you get to the lift, and you'll see a door to the left before the stairs. Open the chute and pop your rubbish bag in (not recycling).

Recycling.

Recycling is down the elevator to level -1. Turn right out the elevator, right again, and right again.

The bins all have clear signage for what goes in each - please follow this information as our local council is super strict.

Lighting.

Our light switches are a little snazzy - push & hold them to turn lights on & off, and spin them to dim or brighten lights.

Departure day.

Our guide is to please leave the apartment as you found it, with dishes done & rubbish taken out. If anything is broken, please leave it out and let us know.

The key is to be returned to the same location as collection - however if you plan to depart before 10am, please contact Lisa to make arrangements. We love hearing your feedback so please do reach out with your thoughts, and we hope you can visit us again soon.

Eating & drinking.

Please be mindful of the furniture and keep your meals & snacks to the island or balcony.

Laundry.

You are welcome to use the washing machine in the bathroom cupboard, laundry liquid is supplied and we have a drying rack in the wardrobe cupboard.

Smoking & candles.

No smoking inside thanks, please keep it on the balcony with the glass slider closed and no candles please. We’ve got the moody lighting covered!

Photoshoots.

We love photoshoots! Please touch base with us about your creative project so we can chat through options of Revel & Hide being your location.

The fun part.

Onto the fun part!

The four streets you need to know:

Johnston Street to the north
Gertrude Street to the south
Smith Street to the east
Brunswick Street to the west

Between these four streets, you have EVERYTHING you need to enjoy your time in Melbourne.

We do encourage going further afield but if you are time poor or are just too smitten with the few blocks surrounding us, we've got you more than covered with things to do on the guide waiting for you when you arrive.

We may be a teensy bit biased, but we think our little hood is better than Brooklyn, hipper than Hackney and could be kooler than Kreuzberg.

We can't wait to hear if you agree - and if we can help you with any first hand recommendations, drop us a note anytime.

Damage & theft.

If something breaks, no stress! Please just let us know so we can replace ahead of our next guests. We know this won’t happen but we have to say it – any theft or malicious damage will be reported.

Lost keys.

If you happen to lose our keys, a $200 fee will apply to have these replaced through our building management.

In-House Massages.

Our pals at STILL Beauty offer the most delicious massages, all from the comfort of your own little cocoon at Revel & Hide. We highly recommend! You can book in by conacting Joey here, and mentioning where you are staying will ensure you are incredibly well looked after.
